The neighborhood in one sentence:
We’re just going to say it, Cherry Creek is one of the fanciest neighborhoods in Denver. Urban living at its finest, high-end shops, cool bars and fancy restaurants are all within walking distance.
If you have some time and money to spare, the walkable, picturesque Cherry Creek North shopping center offers 50 places to dine or snack and more than 100 places to drop some dough. And when we say dough, we mean Hermes, jewelers, upscale home goods and more clothing shops than could clothe you for a year.
For some down and dirty burgers and beer, it has to be the iconic Cherry Cricket. Machete offers a great happy hour for tacos and margaritas, you can crush the pins at Milwaukee Street Tavern and True Food Kitchen could satisfy the most strict of dietary restrictions.
If you’re looking to impress a date or just spice up your life, some of Denver’s top chefs have restaurants in Cherry Creek like the elevated Asian at Departure from Gregory Gourdet and Matsuhisa from Nobu Matsuhisa. Those worrying about drinking or driving have a growing number of hip and cool hotels to choose from like Halcyon and Moxy.
While drinkers and diners have plenty of patios to choose from in the neighborhood, Departure Elevated on the top of the Halcyon will by far be the best bet.
What are transportation and parking like?
Bus routes galore. Metered street parking in Cherry Creek North, limited street parking in the surrounding neighborhoods, and paid parking in the Cherry Creek Mall lots and surface lots at 1st and University and at 1st and Steele Street. There are also plenty of B-cycle stations.
Better for buyers or renters?
Cherry Creek is known for its large supply of luxury townhomes and duplexes on smaller lots. Most are owner occupied and tend to be favored by empty nesters who enjoy easy access to the shops, restaurants and amenities the neighborhood offers. Limited inventory of higher end high-rise condos and single-family homes, with more affordable residences along Cherry Creek Drive South (a recent search found a 1 bedroom/1 bath condo for $325,000). Other things to know about the neighborhood:
Construction has been non-stop, and the direction is mostly upward. New high-rise condos built in recent years have created a market for the shi-shi shops in cherry Creek Shopping Center — which is going through its own changes, especially since paid parking has been instituted. Shortly after it began, one owner said food traffic was down as much as 50 percent. one big addition to the neighborhood will be Denver’s first SoulCycle.
You’re also right along the Cherry Creek Trail for hop-on-hop-off access to the 42-mile long paved pathway for bike riding, running and walking.
